LOOK FOR JEN RUMPZA
SUMMER 2017 @:
ADAM PECK GALLERY
142 Commercial Street
Jen Rumpza has been living in Provincetown since 1998 and painting since 2005. What started as a distraction from a novel became a full fledged obsession and her eye has turned inward through viewing outward every since. Through workshops with local artists, Rumpza has learned basic color theory and tools for painting outdoors, and recently became comfortable with the color green.
This show was created in the open spaces of the Outer Cape using oil paints on several painting surfaces: board, canvas and paper, and applying the paint with varying tools such as pallet knife, putty knife, playing cards and oil brushes, as well as applying different techniques: the use of heavy paint, layered paint and thin paint.
In other words, this is an exploratory show, not only the act of painting, but also the act of seeing. I was interested in looking at the same subject over and over and exploring various ways of seeing; learning in the process that nothing is permanent.
